EFS opens a new school in Witham

Staff and pupils at the Essex Fresh Start’s Chelmsford site are packing up and moving this summer to Witham, in the very heart of Essex, midway between Colchester and Chelmsford. The school will open with approximately 25 pupils in September and increase to 40 by the summer term of 2016.
Deputy Head Teacher Alison Ramsey says “The dedicated classrooms, such as the Kitchen/Food Tech area and the Science classroom, will allow us to expand our curriculum in these areas; the pupils are really excited.”
School Business Coordinator Kathy Fenton added, “It’s a school with a lot of outside space where the children can go and play. We are planning on rolling out more sport – especially football.”
Following a very warm and welcoming consultation, staff are forming good relationships with neighbours and local businesses and establishing a foothold in the community. Head Teacher Cheryl Rutter has made it clear that, where possible, the school will be available for neighbours to use during weekends and school holidays for events, classes and meetings. She also outlined the extra curricular initiatives staff and pupils would run – from cake sales to car washes.
This move is part of the TCES Group’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality educational environments to ensure our pupils are supported to achieve the best possible outcomes and their full potential.
